The Carolina Glass Vial is filled with bread and salt to ward off malocchio. As a child, there wasn’t an Italian wedding or funeral attended past 1989 without my mom shoving a small saran wrap bag of salt and a pinch of Auddino’s bread down my pocket. My great grandmother Conti taught her that even those closest to your heart can cast you the illest harm. I wear this necklace to protect me from my own naivety and eagerness to dish out unearned trust in others.
